"i think i was overwhelmed by the number of offers that poured in. "hyderbad has given me a new life and career." in spite of a spectacular debut in nuvve kaavali (for which he won the vamsi award for the best newcomer), saikiran hasn’t climbed up too many popularity charts unlike many of his counterparts. "but telugu movies will remain my first priority," he assures. he’s signed up for a tamil film enna solla pogirai. he’s taught me a lot." talk turns to rajnikanth who’s saikiran’s favourite actor "i’ve watched basha 14 times and have seen all his films when i studied in chennai." and now, saikiran will follow his idol’s steps.
"he’s the one who helped discover the potential in me. earlier, i thought comedy was simple, but working on this film, i’ve learnt that it’s one of the most difficult aspects of acting." he credits his success to director jonnalagadda seenu. i play a foolish villager who comes to the city and finds the going tough.
talking about his film, manasunte chalu, which releases later this month, he says, "after nuvve kaavali, i think this is the film that’ll bring me back to the limelight. he may have changed his look, but he remains as unpretentious and courteous as ever. saikiran, tollywood’s soft-spoken hero, is sporting a french beard! "i was trying for a different look since i have a sudden break from shootings for a week," he explains.
